Our Story: From Great-Grandmother's House to Terrazzo sullo Ionio
For six years now, anyone who arrives in Nova Siri and chooses to stay with us has, without quite realising it, stepped into a family home. Terrazzo sullo Ionio wasn’t born as a business plan drawn up on paper, but as the transformation of a place that has always meant something special to our family: our great-grandmother’s house, right in the historic centre of Nova Siri.
A centuries-old house, a respectful restoration
The house is centuries old, its walls having seen generations pass through long before ours. When we decided to renovate it and turn it into a small B&B, our choice from the very start was to respect its character: we kept the original stone walls, letting them go on telling the house’s story to whoever lives in it, even just for a few nights. Not a restoration that erases the past, but one that puts it on display.
The terrace: the heart of the house
If there’s one thing that makes this house different from any other, it’s the terrace overlooking the sea — the one that gives our B&B its name. It’s the point where the family home meets the Ionian Sea: from here, the view runs freely toward waters just ten minutes away, from a vantage point generations of our family were lucky enough to know before we ever were.
From family home to B&B
Opening the doors of this house to guests, six years ago, was a way of keeping it alive, sharing with visitors something that has always held value for us: the stones, the history, and above all that view that has belonged to this family for generations. Today, Terrazzo sullo Ionio consists of an apartment with a terrace and kitchen, for up to 4 guests, and a double room with private bathroom and patio, for those seeking a more intimate stay.
When you come to see us, you’re not just booking a place to stay: you’re stepping through the door of a house that, for our family, still means home — before it ever means B&B.
